Contest Rules (Irritations)

Contests that say " show, don't tell"
I feel like saying  "go to hell"
Because I like to tell a story,
whether fairy tales or murders gory.

The ones that say "you mustn't rhyme,
as if this is a major crime.
And pray, what is this "purple prose?"
Their attitude gets up my nose.

Some want a novel in your notes,
or copying of their silly quotes.
Or "my favourites only", if you please
it's enough to bring you to your knees.

And if a cliché lingers on your pen,
you're sure to be deleted then.
DoN't WritE LIke tHis, is fAir enoUgH
and would probably get me in a huff.

Contests that demand two words,
how's that poetry? it's absurd.
Or re-write their poem in your style,
I really think that idea's vile.

Some rules are taking too much space
and wipe the smile right off my face.
Repetitive contests are so boring
and leave this reader loudly snoring.

I can think of least a dozen more,
but I too, don't wish to be a bore.
Or incur the wrath of contest holders,
with poetic challenge on their shoulders!

    This is a wonderful poem that should be printed at the top of every contest page as a reminder to the contest holders to be fair and make the contest for us all!!!!!!!

    Brilliant entry in this contest I totally agree with all you've said as well. Some contest rules are way over the top

    As usual, your rhyme and meter are spot on Best of luck in this contest
