Nuktia

The owl rotates 360 degrees
around his head axis,

perches far away

from the equatorial branch.

A confused sundial
reworks its mathematics,
calculates new eras, elongates the day
into a summer.

Two moons wane,

diminishing into dreams

and the owl is still as night.

Author notes

sol= sun sistere=still
nuktia is latin for "of the night", and is used for an Owl.

At the end of the poem, the day begins, and the owl is still as night.

Ooh, thank you for explaining the title in author's notes that saved me hours of looking for it in English dictionnaries

Anyway, I quite like what you have written here - you have sketched the scenery very well!

    Thank you for entering!

I love the metaphor you have used here. This piece has depth and really make the reader think but still allows them the freedom to run a path of their own choosing.
    Thank you for entering!
    Best of luck to you!

I'm not crazy about the main image of the owl, but I like the content in the poem itself. Overall, strong.

This is a neat entry to this contest - liked the flow and the presentation as well - educational too, as well as entertaining. Unique spin on the prompt given.
