when Icarus fell, he drowned in the sea
the idea of water on the brain being connected to insanity is old lore
Son
Masons I once commanded glean satisfaction by my incarceration in this labyrinth creation from imagination.
You do not deserve the fate of an isolated inmate for we are one together alone mocked by the trinity.
Your distinct desires inspire me to set you free.
I’ve built wings to raise us past definitions of my maze.
Fly away but veer from truth which would melt the wax glaze that plasters the feathers together.
PS
Insane people are said to have too much water.

You've used some electric words in this short 'letter'...trinity, mocked, and truth...Interesting angle you've taken with the insanity issue too. I've always loved the story of Icarus flying too close to the sun but never considered him or his father insane, just enthusiastic..
You definitly 'twisted' my mind around the idea. Fun read. Peace, Rhonda

Very interesting! This gives a fresh, new perspective on this myth - Very thought provoking;
"Fly away but veer from truth which would melt the wax glaze that plasters the feathers together."
The father of Icarus, Daedalus. His role in this myth is often over-looked. Daedalus was quite a character in Greek mythology. A very inventive fellow - constructing a labyrinth and coming up with the idea of flying for him and his son. Wikipedia gives a great write-up about him;

Thank you for this fascinating entry. It is definitely one that makes a person think. Just what I am looking for! Best of wishes in the contest!
Oh, and the "water on the brain" comparison is quite intriguing, since Icarus fell in the ocean.
I don't know about insane people only having too much water. Insanity is probably an imbalance of any of the elements. Too much fire causes insanity also. -
