I see you standing there.
A mask of determination.
An aura of power and integrity.
But do those who pray for you each day,
See beyond the "hero" inside?
Do they see you deep down,
Stripped bare to the bone?
Do they see the amazing amounts of love beating in your heart?
Or the innate fear that consumes everything?
Do they see all the pain harbored inside?
Or the guilt every time you pull that trigger?
Do they see that you're hearts at home,
While you fight to keep your sanity for just one more day?
Do they have any clue what it is you went through,
Just to give them the right to bitch?
Do they see me at home,
Crying myself to sleep every night.
Praying and hoping you come home safe.
Do they see me standing tall and proud,
At your side?
Do they see the family that goes,
Day to day trying to survive without you?
Do they see the children you left behind,
For the good of "people"?
Do they truly care?
Do they see why Military wives/girlfriends,
Separate themselves from "civilians"?
Do they feel the ungodly amounts of pain,
we strive to survive each day.
Do they understand that they are ignorant?
And That maybe that ignorance hurts?
Do they get that this war is hurting many more than they realized?
But you still see those men out there fighting,
Hurting and dying for the rights and freedoms of "people".
You still see the Wives and families,
The friends and children,
At home...
Loving and standing proud.
Moving forward...
In other words baby...
I am standing proud.
I'm not a "civilian".
I'm right by your side.
And I'll cry myself to sleep each night,
Until you're home safe again.
And I'll keep my head up high...
Proud to be in love with a man.
A man who has sacrificed everything.
The world owes you their lives.
I love you My Airman.
Just know,
You've got "military family" here at home,
Loving you unconditionally,
And praying for your safe return.
Your baby boy misses you!!!
I love you..
