Floodwater Blues

These floodwater blues
have got me sinking fast
my head is still above it
but I know that it won’t last
My whole damned life
just got washed away
I knew that it could happen
I have always dreaded this day

These floodwater blues
have got me so down
there is now nothing left
where there once was a town
The place where I grew up
it was always home to me
it just got washed away
there goes all of my history

These floodwater blues
they took away my life
cause I lost my two children
and lost my loving wife
How could this happen
as I prey to God above
cause I never hurt nobody
all I gave was my love
