Yesterday

Excuse me! who the hell cares about yesterday?
It's gone, and if you want me to relate it in prose
Here goes?
Waylaid in traffic jams, repairing roads, so they say
People hooting, taxis shooting, road rage all the way
Trying to find parking, accounts are due
If you don't pay them today, they will just fine you!
OK! I had a lunch date with a few special friends
Two gin and tonics later, is where the conversation ends
Back in the traffic, waiting in a queue,
The temperature is over the top, I'm really feeling blue
I need to do shopping, the basic essentials are quite low
Bread, milk, cereals and the soaps that make one glow
Time is important, yet we are all in chaos
We have a power restriction, electricity is at a loss
My country is divided we are looking for clarity
Yet our pride for this land, will not ask for charity
I wait, and wait, till the road is clear
And I observe the wonderful things around me, I see and hear
Yes! I live in South Africa, a country with a soul
And to be united with one another is our goal!

A trying day, rushing about getting things done. Soon this day is past too and the present is here, only to become yesterday too quickly too.
