Birds sing the lamenting song of defeat,
Wrapped in the shroud of fallen angels
The torn wing of the descended bleeds,
Echoes of his cry resound deep in my soul
As fear and reckless abandonment hysterically grow,
He huddles upon the sacred rock of his exile
Whispers of doom are heard by the unseen crow,
But the bird on his shoulder continues her poignant aria

Fairly short, but this really gets the mind working and weaves quite the indepth imagery. I do like the incorporation of the crow in this as well. Nice touch

Did you know the crow is in the top ten smartest animals on the planet? Everytime I see a Raven in a poem I think of Edgar Allen Poe. Fantastic imagery in the poem Dark Poet. If this was inpsired by a contest I wonder what the visual inspiration was.

Yes, it was inspired by a contest...if you go to the poem and right underneath it is the link for the contest, where you can see the piece that inspired it. Thank you so much for taking the time to read!
