You see things
and you say "why?"
Why do we try?
What will it become?
Folding ourselves
into one another,
Hoping for the best.
You worry about the pain,
the hurt that may come.
An open heart is easily dashed,
salt in wide wounds.
So you ask, "why?"
But I dream things that never were
and I say, "why not?"
Why not hold on,
to the miracle of love?
Why let the past
keep us from our future?
When will it be enough
to trust and hope?
The pain is always possible
I know you could hurt me too.
Can't you tell by looking
Deep into my heart,
That my greatest hopes and fears,
are centered around you?
Don't walk away from what could be
because of what might not.
Take my heart,
fragile as it may be
and know that it is bared for you
and you only.
Why you ask?
Well really,
Why not?
