You were the love of my life, you still are.
You told me you loved me, we would never part.
One day you came over and said you had to tell me something.
I was getting nervous; I didn't know what to think, you were so serious.
You sat me down and took my hand in yours.
I asked what was wrong, you wouldn't look at me.
All you kept saying was you were sorry and it wasn't meant to happen.
Then you told me; you slept with my best friend and she is now pregnant.
You should have just ripped my heart out, my tears began to fall.
You asked for my forgiveness and said you really loved me.
I asked you to leave me alone, go and never come back.
Once again you said you loved me, then walked away.
Later that evening you came to visit, you needed to talk.
You told me you didn't love her, you made a mistake.
Your mistake changed our lives, we were to marry in the Fall.
You took me in your arms and kissed me so passionately.
My body began to tremble as my tears fell more swiftly.
You told me that she meant nothing to you, you wanted me.
It broke my heart even more when I told you that you I couldn't be with you.
You had a child on the way, you had a responsibility to care for.
There was no way I would keep you from your child.
A week later you moved away, before you left you came over to say good-bye.
I couldn't do it, I couldn't say good-bye to the man I loved so deeply.
That was the last time I seen you, we both had tears in our eyes.
It has been 24 years since that day, I never said good-bye to you.
I still wouldn't be able to because I still love you as I did that last day.

what a tragic story that you can tell has so much emotion and the pain of doing the right thing and all the tears it brought you. one thing you may want to work on with this piece is just find a rhythm in which to read i had a hard time reading becuase i couldn't find a rhythm in which to read.
thanks for entering -
Never quite understood the cheating, and when not even married it is beyond me. As a guy I'd have made a choice and said "Goodbye" before other problems set in.
Not the best circumstances but he at least told you instead of disappeaing and having you find out months later.
A well told tale of emotion

Outstanding
You know how to put your pain out in the open I beleive that the more you talk about your pain the easier it will be to let it go one day.

-
Betrayal
And the heart that cn never let go. Often a very painful combination. Why though is it so one sided? This I wish i knew
-
I KNOW THIS PAIN
BECAUSE I LIVE THIS PAIN TOO
ITS SO TERRIBLE TOO

so SAD so DEEPso much LOVE
did this real happen? It must have been bad. Anyway congratcs the poem was good. i felt like the women that got cheated on like i was there,i was thinking what she felt. when her husband/boyfirend/fincae cheated on her and sat her down and thold her. the title that u picked for this was a great title "Never a Good-Bye" that is how the women felt she could never say good-bye to the one she loved more then anything. i think its good as is the poem to me is good its like a story..(it is) the story/poem changed to a scared and heart beating begin that pulls u in and then u cant stop reading it to me this was good..mine or not even close to yours. good job Angelwings47 and keep wrighting.
