Give Me a Sign

What's my last mistake

My final resting place for doubt?

Deep waters claim my energy

And forget my happiness

Is there anybody out there

Still getting away with it all messed up?

I forgive the failings of others

Just like they said I would

This is not the end of me

I believe in 'this too shall pass'

When I fall from my madness

I will march back up again

Because I need insanity to survive

Don't persecute the weak of mind

And sad of heart, lost in memories

Are they really out to get you?

Don't you know that what you need

Is a human touch?

What's my first mistake

My starting point for failure?

My fortune faded, sunlight jaded

State of bliss misunderstanding?

Holding the course, no help taken

Taking steps towards the open book

Forever after in my heart's fairytale where

My TV's telling me to go to sleep

    "claim my energy"
Loved this phrase--it creates the sense of vulnerability.

    "insanity to survive"
    Interesting. Good phrase.

"Don't persecute the weak of mind"
I think society does this by learned habit...great line.

    "fortune faded,/sunlight jaded"
    Awesome rhyming.

"My TV's telling me to go to sleep."
Great ending, and it doesn't resolve the depression in this poem, which is even better, because the reader is finished still feeling somber after reading this poem. Great use of mood/tone in this poem!

However, I think you should incorporate periods at the end of ALL stanzas if you're going to do it w. one. It's more consistent.

Thanx, that was a brilliant comment!

Oops, there wasn't supposed to be a full stop at the end of that last line. It was to do with the formatting, the text kept changing to the default font each time I hit return, so I wrote a '.' and typed before it to keep the font from changing. I forgot to take it out afterwards.

    Hey Hey Wecome back!

    Hi Laura,

Sure is good to see you writing and, two writes in one hour. That's great. Always interesting to try to understand these with no clues in author notes. Just a bit of confusion there it sounds like. Which reminds me - haven't talked to you on the phone for a long time.
