still perched upon memories
that could never be resurrected,
and I wonder how many regrets
it takes to fill a sigh.
Those spaces between seconds
have become smaller,
constricting days into hours
when before, a week
was a whole experience away.
Everything is just so tired;
from the faded colours of thoughts,
to the reality of my reflection,
and tomorrow will be another cross
against four score and ten,
each adding a little more
to the unfurled ribbon of my past,
another measure dug from earth
making that mound a little higher;
my view a little more obscured.
Author notes
Prompt : Clock
Its my birthday today (15th Febuary) and I was thinking on what my life has contained and where it will be. this is a little melancholy and reflective, but I think it fits the prompt of a clock ie time.

Very beautiful, I loved the start so much. It reminds me of how I was when January the 1st came around and I remembered what had happened in the year past and how I regret, regress and want to make things better this year coming.

I liked the poem very much. It was such a heavy poem, but flowed nicely. At 15 you are so young and yet your poem is so mature. You are a most talented poet. Keep your muse pleased. They do get pickey after awhile. I wish I had the talent you have at such an early age. It would have been an honor tohave you in my classes.

loved the lines:
Everything is just so tired;
from the faded colours of thoughts,
to the reality of my reflection,
happy birthday and best of luck in the contest.

Happy Birthday, Bro
I remember your last one well as it was when I talked to you for the first time other than in contests and realized what an amazing person you are...and since then, I have grown to adore and respect you even more as well as your poetry...
Another amazing poem. You make it look easy...

How many regrets does it take to fill a sigh... excellent, thought provoking and though the sense of melancholia was strong the reader is not dragged down by it but lifted by the language used.
The author comments do seem to allude to this being your 15th birthday as oppposed to saying your birthday is February 15th, wishful thinking within a Freudian slip perhaps dear poet. Here is a question I ask others that share their concern with the amount of candles on their birthday cake, I ask them if they didn't know how old they were how old would they feel?
What a lovely couple of days of celebrating for the poet,Valentines followed by a birthday!
