The Little Heart That Could

There once was a heart
With a hole in the middle
That was stepped on and broken
Cut up and whittled.

It was useless and lonely
But kept pushing through
It refused to stop beating
In the hopes to find you.

It searched through the storms
In the harshest of seas
And it drowned in the pain
That the waters would bring.

But this heart kept on going
Because somehow it knew
That every last trial
Was worth finding you.

One day, it found love
It was worth all the fighting
I know this because
It's my heart that is writing.
