All I have To Give

I offer you this perfect rose
for it's all I have to give

As you feel the velvet softness
of its petals, will you remember
the way my breath flutters and
sighs across your cheek as we
lay together in the stillness
limbs entwined, glowing from
precious moments we have shared

I offer you this rose, my love
for you already have my heart

Author notes

I tried to resist the urge to write for Valentine's Day but as in all things I gave in to temptation...

This is such a powerful ending. You are a very inspirational writer. Love is great thru your eyes, and this shows the reader the extremes of such a wonderful thing. It is truly a gift to recieve. Such a love like you have highly spoken about.

This poem was wonderful. There aren't always other things to give when the other person already has your heart. The only emotional response i can give you is that i've been in the situation twice. One time having my heart givin back to me in peices, the second one is slowly mending my heart. This poem gives hope to some people.

This is so true, Jessica. When you give your heart to another there isn't a whole lot more you can give. Hold onto your hope sweetheart, it's worth it in the end.

*sigh* A most fitting Valentines poem indeed Margaret, and that damned temptation does tend to waylay us at times.

Thank you, Michael. I had my reasons for avoiding temptation but they've been laid to rest. Now I can be soft and gooey whenever I want or warm and fuzzy if the mood is right
