somewhere,
in reverie
between nod, sweep, ebb, pluck,
your fingers caressing heartstrings,
i cry
someplace,
anywhere else
you counterbalance each
note with heartsongs and softer sighs
I breathe...
Author notes
just playing with cinquain again after a lull...

I cry when I hear violins and bagpipes and sometimes the pipe organ if I am in a church.
I never wrote a cinquain. Well I don't think.
It's Spring. How are you?

thanks Lisa
Cinquains are the ONLY form poetry i ever 'do'
i once tried to write tanka - i even joined a class here and graduated with an grade A but i never understood why tanka are tanka or haiku are haiku really - i get lost in technicality.
with cinquain as long as it's a good day and i can count eight sylables I have it cracked. I rarely write one because i can rarely count to eight coherently and as i come from yorkshire we talk funny anyway so i get told i have counted wrong! can't win!
on reflection i have never understood the why of most things lol!
spring is late
it has snowed and is frosty
bloody global warming indeed - it's freezing!
hope you are well

It has been the same here -- cold. Today it was 61 F degrees though. People have gone Mad. It was crazy. Cars everywhere and I even dragged myself to the beach for lunch.
Yes, I'm good. Despite the slowness of Spring.

this is gorgeous...isn't that the way with music...it really affects our emotions...mm...yes, and lovers do this too..very beautiful cinquains....

This is how a cinquain should be written and I am SO happy to see you playing with it again, Elaine! Beautiful poetry with such a haunting quality about it...somewhere between the cry and the breath.
this line "you counterbalance each note" brings it all together for me - simply beautiful, meaningful poetry - life music.
Thank you for sharing this with us.

Ooooh, beautiful! And I have an entry in this contest too, darn it! LOL!
"you counterbalance each
note"
Awww, I will match you sigh for sigh. That is my favorite part - makes me hopeful, for having someone there who is the ying to your yang. Makes me think of see-saws, balance and equality in love. There is nothing more amazing than having someone who feels the same way about you as you do about them.
Lovelyyyyyyy

Beautifully penned, Poet. Nic is the very one who got me started writing cinquains. She will enjoy this one, I know. Good luck in the contest.
