Like the darkness that swallows the daytime,
Like the midnight that preludes the morn,
Like the sea when it roars out with anger,
That’s how my heart feels, torn.
Like the sunshine’s that follow the nighttimes,
Like the rosebud that follows the frost,
Like the sparrow that sings in the treetops,
Those are the feelings I’ve lost.
Like the rainbow that follows the storm,
Like the laughter you hear in the rain,
Like the springtime that follows the winter,
That’s how I hope to feel again.
But deep in my heart full of sadness,
Reality calls out my name,
And though hard to admit what it’s shouting,
I know I’ll never be the same.
