Beneath green leaf

Down beneath green leaf and moss,
Unfazed by resting hand on cloth,
Pale movement pooled in patient eyes
Stirs ancient wisdom, in the wise
Untutored flame to draw the moth.

So here, in lichen-friendly hollow,
The velvet capped and coated, follow
Open-wheeled in lightest brown,
To seal the oily chequered mound
In weightlessness of empty borrow.

Down beneath cathedral firs,
In gathered dusk the dark defers
To silence cracked by fingers, steamed
Unwhistling breath to thread the seams
Re-stitched by spirits' subtle spur.

Author notes

I took 'nature' as the prompt, weaving in the mysterious spirituality I find in natural woodland. Like a film half-glimpsed in a wooded hollow, lowlit and smudged but very real...I hope.

nice one animarising you really painted a picture. I wish I could write like that. It made me think if forests are that glorious why are we destroying them?

Wonderful, just wonderful. This is the kinda poetry I seek out on this website. It holds content, meaning, imagery and flow. Very few of us command poetry, many attempt it, you command it. Bravo.

The words....weightlessness of empty borrow...have a subtle resonance that reminds of the ancient burial rites of our forefathers. Darkly beautiful.

This had a very interesting rhyme scheme that I am unfamiliar with but I enjoyed it. The imagery in this was brutal as well... overall this was fantastic. Well done and good luck in the contest.
