She sits alone in her room
A shadow of herself
Hoping maybe he will call
She sends him a text message
Saying she loves him
Hoping maybe he will say more than “I know”
She lays awake at night
Wishing she could be with him
Hoping maybe he’s thinking of her
She turns down other boys for dates
Feeling like she would be cheating on him
Hoping maybe he isn’t with another girl
She comes when he calls
Giving him all her free time
Hoping maybe she wont be forgotten
She drinks and smokes with him
Knowing it could kill her
Hoping maybe she can impress him
She sneaks out at night to be with him
Risking getting caught or hurt
Hoping maybe he cares about her
She lets him steal her innocence
Knowing she can never get it back
Hoping maybe now he will love her
She puts her life on hold
Throwing away her dreams of college
Hoping maybe someday she will be his one and only
She sits at home every night
Waiting for him to take her out
Hoping maybe he wont stand her up
She cries herself to sleep
When he stands her up for prom
Hoping maybe he has a good reason
She gives him her heart
Knowing he will probably smash it
Hoping maybe he will understand her
She forgives him for everything he’s done
Knowing he will just break her heart again
Hoping maybe he can at least have some compassion
She takes her own life one night
After he tells her he would never love her
Hoping maybe now he will miss her
