The tragedy of your death
Was something that hit hard
Your held out for so very long
No one really understood
All the strength it took
You only wanted to be a dad
But she was always in your way
Fighting every choice you made
What else could you say
You let her go
Hard as it was
So you could fight the fight
To get her back
Hell with the cost
Nothing was going to stop you
Finally the day was here
The judge had made his choice
You were going to get her back
As one we all rejoiced
Then late that night a knock
On the door from a stranger
Asking for you by name
Never a thought of disillusion
Loud as thunder
It rang out
A shot at point blank range
Down to the floor you fell
As he ran into the night
13 days you lied there
With tubes and wires and nurses
Surgeries and family
Were your constant companions
Then the day came
"your little girl is safe"
Your broken tired body
Was able to let go
I miss you every single day
Your face is so familiar
Rest in peace, I love you
That's all that's left I pray

This for me was a way to say goodbye to my uncle who was murdered almost 13 years ago after fighting for custody of his daughter. We all miss him and I hope that no family ever has to expreince loss like this.

Oh my god im so sorry. I cant imagine what you must have gone through. I love the poem heart renching as it is. I do know how death of a loved one feels. Only one person i really cared about that has died was related to me but he is only figurativly(*sp) dead. Again I'm sorry
