Walking through the Autumn
In the cold years of my past
Searching for some meaning
Hoping that at last
I can see you laugh again
and feel a warm embrace.
to see you sit beside me
with that smile upon your face.
Laughing as you walked away
was this our last goodbye?
the one thought on my tortured mind
was knowing you would die.
I remember snow and hail
the chill of winter days
the fire crackling in the grate
and through the smoky haze
you laid me down and softly asked
would I love you now and ever?
I stroked your hair and then replied
I love you always my sweet bonny Heather.
Laughing as you walked away
was this our last goodbye?
the one thought on my tortured mind
was knowing you would die.
Summer sun and scorching nights
the beach with hot white sand
we wandered through our dream time
you with me, hand in hand
Laughing as we jumped the waves
I kissed you under moon
you were so lovely then
my heart broken all too soon.
Laughing as you walked away
was this our last goodbye?
the one thought on my tortured mind
was knowing you would die.
And now I lie here on my own
thinking of our time
A tear slowly slips away
you haunt my every rhyme
It's my turn now my endless love
my turn to close the page
I'll be with you my autumn love
forever and an age...
Laughing as you walked away
was this our last goodbye?
the one thought on my tortured mind
was knowing you would die.
Author notes
This was based on the song "The Song Remembers When" by Trisha Yearwood.
It reminded me so much of love never lost and remembering that even though you may be alone now...one day you will meet up again and be forever entwined in each other.
Dedicated to all those that have loved and lost....especially in Septembers Faith....
I am Simon Corn and I would like to your dark sided brother from Africa...LOL

Thank you for sharing your heart and pain my brother Simon Corn. I also am partial to the touch of country.

Wow that's so sad and yet so beautiful. It's awesome how you manage to write that; it emotes really well and really made me think.
Well done!

The is such a sad but beautiful write. Living through the hell of losing that very special someone. I too love that Trisha Yearwood song for my own reasons. Well done, this really is full of feeling.

lol despite your authors notes, I like this. Much better than my own. I felt like I was being walked through time with these two people... good bye is never good bye unless you'll never see that persona again.
Your writing continues to amaze me Simon.
