We are harmony –
thumb and index finger
pressed into pitch.
You strummed the surrender
surging in me, maestro hands
across the bone-path;
plucked frailty from the
underbelly with nimble notes.
You said "eight strings
will never be enough,
Dear, to mirror the
opus of your eyes"
and they split open at the arpeggio
fired between mouths and melting –
a flash of knuckle over thick wood.
I became fine-tuned anatomy;
locked knees as the fret
of your neck while you sang
“Don’t climb, my Darling,
we’re already at the cusp
of a final and flawless chord."
Author notes
The last of a series inspired by love and two amazing poets. Weep. Not happy with the ending though.

I totally agree with Guy - you've outdone yourself here, Allyce and ended this series of musical instruments on a very poetic high. I don't agree with you though, lolol... I LOVE the ending! And you wrote about one of my favourite instruments too.
This one is so deliciously sensual and I admire your use of poetic device - so many I want to highlight like "fine-tuned anatomy", "maestro hands across the bone-path" (jaaaa..!), the alliteration of "strummed the surrender surging..", "locked knees at the fret of your neck" sighs, woman....!!etc. etc.
I like this one - very much! Thank you creating this beautiful poem for our contest.

beautifully done
you are so very talented

yeah. that "maestro hands across the bone-path" is a wowser, Allyce.
as well as the "flawless chord."
i think we'd all love to end on a flawless chord.
which is what i think you've done with this series of yours
thanks for creating this for us

"You strummed the surrender
surging in me, maestro hands
across the bone-path"
Sighhh...This one does it for me. I guess I surrender now.
I've been lacking courage & energy for the latest contest anyway. I love the mandolin. I could never do it such justice. Pick at it all you like, my Friend. I love it just as it is. Good luck, Sweetie.

This is simply beautiful...and I know beautiful gets tossed around for a word, but it is. I loved this, it was something I could totally relate to, but could never write. Kudos. Well done.
