Evening Cries

Shadows painting death
upon an ordinary evening.

Twisted tangles of hush
inbred with desperation
wrap themselves around
the glade where lovers
entwine.

It tastes the air tentatively,
liver-spotted tongue seeking
egress to the young blood.

In the lush laziness of dusk
cries ring out and echo.
Cries of passion?

Cries of brutal death?

    Beautifully morbid.
I love the imagery in this,
    especially in the second stanza.
Blew me away, I'm left in awe.
I like the way you end the piece with questions. It gives the piece an interesting twist.
