The ending lasted far too many years
and light became the something that was lost.
It filtered through the sadness and the tears--
the fading came and silence was the cost.
I waited, love had moved beyond my reach;
you waited and my heart became my own.
There wasn't any more that life could teach
the two of us together. Now alone
the morning rises, free, the sun comes through
the darkened clouds. The path is bathed in Light.
My heart is old, my spirit is as new
and every prayer and wonder lies in sight.
We find the only Constant is within;
one journey ends, another will begin.

What a lovely surprise to come after 3 days away and see a new poem of yours posted here.
You do write about a sad moment, and yet you managed to make it feel good. All the light that dissipates darkness, showing that the end isn't always something to fear.
A wonderful poem Mary and equality wonderful thoughts!
