the honest liar

the darkside of the moon
is where we'll share a look
i'm so in love with the idea of love
that i'm beginning to believe it's a lie
the final exam in the test of time
is to find beauty in something ugly
the future always looks bright
in the warm embrace of the sun
but do you really want the answers
even when the aren't stylish or fitting?
you can always find watered down half-truths
mixed with a pinch of lies and deceit
maybe i'm too self righteous
and maybe i'm just a liar
but it is irrelevant because my name brand shirt says so
can you find the truth in that?

Wow this is very...thoughtful. I really enjoyed this. Thank you for entering my contest. I had a couple favorite parts so here they are:

i'm so in love with the idea of love
that i'm beginning to believe it's a lie

but do you really want the answers
even when the aren't stylish or fitting?
you can always find watered down half-truths
mixed with a pinch of lies and deceit
    maybe i'm too self righteous
and maybe i'm just a liar
but it is irrelevant because my name brand shirt says so
can you find the truth in that?

The first one i liked because that's so often what happens. We think we're in love, but we're really in love with being in love so we don't know when we really are in love. Brilliant. The second part I really liked because you bring up SO many important questions. I love "it is irrelevant because my name brand shirt says so". So cool. But my favorite line is your last one. It's so amazing.

    Welcome to allpoetry

Very thought provoking. You have given the reader something to ponder. Your title is an oxymoron in and of itself and the poem follows suit with that overall theme. Do we really know what is the truth or is it all relative to how we perceive the truth. lol Don't let me put my philosophical hat on now, that is for allphilosophy

I encourage you to keep writing to read and comment.
