End of the Road

Missing image

I once walked through a forest,
deep and cool and wild,
filled with awe and wonder
as if I were just a child.

I once stood on a mountain.
Ancient winds flew through my hair.
It seemed the world around me
had become a silent prayer.

But despite the roads I traveled
and all the ground I gained,
this empty place, this darkness
in my spirit, still remained.

I've walked a thousand lonely miles
and crossed stormy oceans blue
searching for a feeling
that I've found right here with you.

And I could tell a thousand stories
of what the earth, to me, has shown
but all the beauty of this world
falls far short of your own.

For there is no greater wonder
nor peace that I have found
than holding you in darkness
with your heart the only sound.

Your laughter heals my deepest sorrow
and your eyes, so kind and warm,
have become this torn ships refuge
from a bitter, raging storm.

For Claudia I hope! You should put this in a Valentines Day card for her. Beautifully done. Just another prism of that romantic heart of yours.
    Good luck in the contest.

Wow! Talk about a love poem that leaves
your mouth watering... If'n you've never read one
that has that effect on ya'... scroll above and read
the one here VERY beautiful write, Mark...

The emotion.. ohhhhh how I felt it encircling me
while I read. The imagery, too.. took me to the places
I've never known or seen before. Love is such a powerful
    thing..

"I've walked a thousand lonely miles
    and crossed stormy oceans blue
    searching for a feeling
that I've found right here with you.

And I could tell a thousand stories
of what the earth, to me, has shown
but all the beauty of this world
falls far short of your own.

For there is no greater wonder
nor peace that I have found
    than holding you in darkness
with your heart the only sound.

My love, your laughter heals my deepest sorrow
and your eyes, so kind and warm,
have become this torn ships refuge
    from a bitter, raging storm."

I couldn't pick just one stanza to be a favorite
with this write....as I loved the whole poem...
Sooo... all of them are my faves!! But those last
few really got the drool to start dripping on down...
    *wipes mouth with drool rag*
I would love those words to have been said or written
to me... they show the awesome love you have found in
the "one" who has given you 'the feeling'.
    I'm jealous.. lol

Truly a beautiful and breath taking write, hun.
You have such a way with them words!!!!

    Keep on writing!

This kind of love is such a wonderment to experience, and hard to explain to someone who has never felt it before. Discovering someone we can feel such fulfillment with is a rarity, and when we do, its amazing and sends electricity to all those far off parts of the body that tingle whenever they walk in a room. Its easy to smile at the thought of them, laugh when remembering a special time where everything was perfect and the magic moments came one right after the other. Oh yes, I know this love, its very familiar to me, and this poem makes me smile just thinking about it. Very well done, and with a gentleness of heart too.

Love has the ability to soothe the most chaotic soul if it's allowed to do such..
a beautiful poem, of love, and it's purpose
when one finds THE ONE..each word you've written becomes a reality..not just a wish
    excellent piece

    much love & peace
