Ghosts

Lying beneath the cover I stay awake.
Twas but a fortnight since I lost you.
Hid’ in the darkness my hand starts to quake.
I have no will, there’s not to do.

They foolishly worry saying I’m insane,
but you know better don’t you my dear.
They say I should cope with the hideous pain,
which haunts the world outside my dear.

But I’m safe here with you safe in the shadow.
Demons try to tear us apart.
They all want me to be alone.  Yet I know
if I stay here they won’t touch my heart.

They tell me lies, they say that you aren’t here.
But I can see you next to me now.
They aren’t like me.  They don’t believe you’re near.
It’s just they’re being stubborn now.

Oh, don’t you worry love soon they all will see
there is something there at my bed post.
Till that time though it will be just you and me.
Give them time, they will believe in ghosts.
