Consume some love this Valentine
Let Clinton Cards
See queues to door
Let men in suits rush out at lunch
And girls in shoes
Await for more
Let children in Americas
Grow flowers breathe a
Deadly fume
Let's empty out the flower stall
Make space for more
An empty room
And empty is the gesture indeed
When out for five minutes
To score
A cuddly toy and chocolate box
Perhaps a jewel or
Someething more

A former lover once asked me what I wanted for Valentine's Day. When I replied that what I wanted most was a love letter- he said "but I'd rather buy you something"- even as he said it, he realised his mistake. It didn't take long for me to realise mine.
Everything feels so plastic these days. There is nothing more appalling than getting a heartshaped box of candy and a store bought card with a signature on it. It really is the thought that counts- so put some thought into honouring the one you love. It doesn't cost a thing- save for your time and energy.
(sorry, I'm done preaching now)
You've nailed this- and done it in a clever and enjoyable way. Poignant, but not too heavy- it rings with truth and gives the reader something to think about. I look forward to reading the finished product.
Cheers!
T.
