Gently sloping towards the sun,
cupping drops of fallen rain
your fragrant curves reminding me
of the beauty that she was-
to whom I'm driven to desire
here within my own subspecies
of homo sapiens sapiens
of species homo sapiens
of the single genus homo
of the family hominidae
of the order known as primates
of the class mammalian
of the phylum chordate
in the kingdom animalia…

let's celebrate our births today,
grand we both are, in our prime,
weathering all those rolling storms
that cleansed like heaven, hell behind…

Shall I claim you as my own,
and gather you as you gather light,
and wash the colors of the day
upon a heartbeat's breath away
from finding what it blindly seeks,
as you so blindly bend and sway
upon tomorrow's yesterdays?

Oh, hyacinthus litwinowii,
if I were you and you were I,
perhaps a happier thing I’d be-
without the melancholy sighs,
within the melancholy heart
sprung from melancholy mind
that spans the melancholy days
that know no love, when love is all
that keeps this species from withering away…
