She Knows My Horizon: for Nicolette

Missing image

She feels

each beat of my heart,

fluttering

as though it was her own.

Capturing each sigh

as it soars across the landscape,

she breathes life

into wings weary with sorrow.

She sways under moonlit nights,

whispering songs to stars.

I hear the quiet spaces

between her words

and fill them with my trust.

She doesn't reveal

my private dreams,

even under pressure.

I want to dance

within her silent breeze

as the sea calls us home.

She defines love

with her every breath.

I understand

what a woman means

by laughter and tears

whenever she speaks

my secret name.

She is my Sister

and my Friend;

she relieves

my aching need

to be understood.

Can relate to this beautiful poem on friendship, as I have a friend who understands me, as well. Great job - but should have been GOLD!

Kindred spirits you are! May you always find hyacinths for your souls, sweetpeas and snap dragons, too! A beauitiful woman, you be, how can either of you not know a soul sister like your own hearts?

This is the true song of the beauty of friendship between women. I love the trust, confidence... the true bond these words sing out to all who will read them.

    "she breathes life
    into wings weary with sorrow."

How amazing it must be to have found such a caring, loving and beautiful friend. We all ache for someone who understands, few find such a deep and meaningful friendship.

This is a beautiful tribute to a beautiful woman.

    Kutos to you poet.

    Criss

It is amazing, indeed. The only major drawback is that I'm in Oklahoma City & she's in South Africa. Otherwise, I'm quite sure we'd have conversation & coffee as often as possible. Thank you for hosting a lovely contest, Criss. Wanda

your heart beats upon this page..

    "She is my Sister
    and my Friend;"

and when you grin like you did just now, I know MY sister and MY friend, the one I call Vlindertjie, is up to something. And WOW, my dear friend....look what you've done now again

I was just about to go to bed and here you are, with this poem, but with so much more... You are simply an amazing woman, friend, sister, poet and from every room of that big heart of yours you breathe love and kindness and compassion into my eyes. Yes, we know each other's horizons, dark corners, wings, hearts, hands, songs and aches and those, Vlinder-vrou, are both an a true pleasure and an honour.

Thank you for this beautiful heart-gift, for being you, for being there for me too through tears and new smiles. Love you

    ~ Nicolette
