Author notes
This is by far the worst day of my life. I am stuck inside my own home..like a prisoner caged in four walls with my Mom. My dad and brother went away to Mumbai to celebrate the weekend with relatives(hope they all die!). We(My mom and I) are without electricity since yesterday. The power company can do nothing about it because out guys never showed up. She is diabetic and on insulin and I could not leave her and go live with my BF or friend for the night. Its so cold..brrrr...What is so sad is that outside folks are partying away with loud music and we dont have even a light to read by or eat or sleep under. Unbearable! We are hearing their songs and cant stop crying. Its 24 hours without power and 24 more and some more they say to go before something can be done about it. I feel like ending my life tonight and never even by mistake wishing to be re-born...In 5 degrees and no power, death seems a better choice.

This is really a sad story...I hope you and your Mom Ok...I heard on the news that there were some snow flurries in Ludhiana this year...
I don't know any thing about the Haiku...may be you can write about "spring morning wonder"...and you will feel better...all the best...sukhdarshan -

Hi Sukhi ji! Can you send me the link to your ghazal that you had wanted me to read sometime back? I can't seem to find it. We are still without power. Its terrible...The MSEB - Maharashtra State Electricity Board guys are asking us to pay Rs. 1 lakh to put a new cable(we've paid Rs. 40,000 in July'07 for this cable..). With only 1 earning member in the family(my dad) this is really bad for us. My mood is totally out and I'm really depressed these days. But thank you for cheering me up with the thought of spring
A big hug,
Charishma

Hi Char,
If I understand it well your neighbourhood is just ripped off by some fellows who are abled to control some power supply station. one gets a bad taste from such. But at least it gave something to write about. Hope things get well soon.

Hi Wim,
In India money and power speak a language that the layman also seems to have understood by now. If you have money and power here, you can get away with murder even! Sad but true. It is something I personally do not like to encourage...bribery, but I had to go in for it in order to be able to get sort of connected to 'life'. Things are gonna get better though

recovered
Hi - i have you have recovered from your ordeal. it sounds like you and your mother were suffering badly.
i think your punctuation is in the wrong place. it may be better at the end of the second line, or without punctuation at all:
blackout indoors
shattering the night
a community party
best wishes in the contest,

Hi Myron - Life is cruel! Here in India you pay money and your job gets done. I feel terrible and my heart shatters into million pieces at the plight of the poor man who cannot afford to pay money to get his work done. Thanks about the punctuation. My brain wasn't working then. I typed that haiku with tears falling from my eyes. I've got light for a few hours because I paid bribe
My mom's legs have swollen and her knees have swelled up bad. My dad and bro also are away and I can't figure out why the Gods are testing me so much these days...but it will all be okay soon. I am sure
Hope your life is better than what mine is at present.
I miss Oman...

Are you in the Himalayas? How can it anly be 5*C in India?!

Hi! I live in Pune, Maharashtra - India. This year it has been extremely cold. Worse than usual. This time I have been really unlucky with the weather. I was out few days back in 5.8 degrees C.

Thanks! I will join your new class soon. I just want my bro to head back to Oman soon so that I can use the computer. These days he is stuck to it like ants to a cube of jaggery.

These are the moments in which we have the chance to live our true selves. Without that which we rely on and under duress, can our actions match our ideals? I don't know. Sometimes we make it on our own, sometimes we fail or forget, sometimes we just need a reminder.
I hope you get your power back - brings back memories of my own time in India. We take power for granted in the West (is that a pun?) -
-
Oh you said it so well. I just prayed and prayed and fed many street dogs y'day, this morning and this night. I think that helped me get my power back 'temporarily' till they fix it tomm. They are asking for a lot of money though...and that is a worry for Dad..but hopefully his friend will help..His friend is a big politician here. Money and power in India can make anything happen..I hate bribing for anything and today I had to do it and that too with a man who was so rude to me y'day n this morning..sad...i miss Oman!

Oh, such a sad story in your author's notes, I hope the electricity is working for you now. Your haiku portrays the scene well, thank you so much.
