She held onto the bouquet of roses
as if they were diamonds,
the precious and priceless gift, which she had hoped to have
from that one special man,
an ordinary flawed creature who to her was a knight.
How long she waited for the moment,
that his lips would finally find the courage
to share his heart,
as her eyes had seen in the longing of his orbs.
Awkward words exchanged
when they sat next to each other at work,
sensing his shyness,
but seeing the gold underneath,
nudging him gently with encouragement
her heart ache to strengthen his fragile nature that she knew from friends
and their occasional conversation
was the result of deep scars from too many pains of the past.
Then came the day before another Valentine's Day
this time she felt she had at last
added enough iron to his essence, for him to take the hint.
His last look at her, one of yearning,
leaving her mind to imagine
this holiday of love would not pass without him
finally expressing his feelings.
Visit from police was not how she thought the day would come,
they gave her the bouquet he had bought,
which included a card having her name,
having brought it from the morgue
where his body lie, after been hit by a car
as he crossed the street after buying the flowers.
Now she visits his grave, holding the petals, tears flowing freely,
feeling happy he found courage,
praying she can hold onto his memory
until they can meet in heaven.

I wanted you to touch me but I didn't expect to damn cry!!!
This is such a sad & touching story!!!
The irony of him killed buying the flowers is exceptional but makes it that much stronger.
Thanks!
