It's safe to say it's hard to believe
there is a loving God, in a world
where death, disease and war
are a way of life.
When greed and envy
are a measure of success,
with all the glitz and glamour
enticing a spirit to stray.
Have we forgotten God is the creator
of all, in all, above all?
God is in everyone,
we just fail to see him.
When we touch others,
we touch God.
When we accept others,
we accept God.
When we refuse others,
we refuse God.
Our dilemma isn't because we're not loved,
it's because we don't know we are.
Don't be confused by these simple terms;
our reward is in what we give,
love is in how we live,
life is in how we love.
Remember when the wicked come calling,
God is also in them.
Fear not that which is in the dark,
the keys of hell reside in Heaven.
As a child unsuspecting danger,
I welcome the knock upon my door.
There I will stand, with open arms;
catching a glimpse of God.

This was very uplifting to read this morning. It is just one of those days and this is what I needed to read. You words speak the truth ofGod's love. So many time we feel He has abandoned us but it ids we who abandion Him at times. But He never lets us go completely. I think this verse says it all and was my favorite....

The whole poem is my quote, I need not use quotation. If you wish to use any of this, you would need to put quotation marks and give proper credit, rather than just saying quote unknown.
Stealing is stealing no matter what language you use. If you create something you need not use quotation marks unless you are in conversation where the person speaking is in quotation marks. If someone wishes to remain annonymous that's fine but than their user name should probably be Annonymous or Unknown. Thank you for your comment, but it really wasn't necessary, unless of coarse you see more clearly now.

I love this stanza. It speaks loudly to me because I live in a city with countless homeless persons asking for this and that, and I try to give what I can at times. And the other day, I was walking to catch my bus home after work, and I came across a group of young people, one actually got down on his knees and begged for the peice of pizza I was eating for my own supper. I offered them some money instead to go buy them some food for all four, and asked them where they were from. (here's the creepy part) One of them took a long glance at me, and said, "Hell...", and I looked him in the eye and almost believed his sunburned face...lol... and then he added, "aka, California." You just never know who you're going to help, ya know... and the "who" does not matter one bit! It's all about the "helping" part of the equation. Whether or not they were, in fact, from hell, I made the choice to offer grace in His name. I admit, though, I was a little creeped out, lol.

Could it be possible everyone we meet were God in disguise? Proving He would never leave us. If you noticed in the poem how we treat each other is exactly how we treat God.

Thank you my companion in the Lord. I firmly believe He is coming quickly and bringing His reward to give to each of us according to our works. It only makes sense to want a good reward. If evil gets what evil does, good can only get better.

You make some good points. My spell check program says “glamore” is glamour. In truth, this poem reminds me of someone who went to a really good spiritual seminar and took notes. Then found rhymes for the notes and made them into a poem. And there is nothing wrong with that. You never can tell what is going to be just what someone needs to hear (or read) to get their life back on track. Thank you for entering my contest.

This is a well written piece on a religious subject. I like what you had to say about being loved and not loving others enough. My problem is I love way too much and I get my heart broken.

Sentiments well expressed in these lines; easy to read and understand your viewpoint on this matter. God is all powerful, but he does allow us to make our own choices and we have to live with them. It is not him who causes wars, but man himself makes that decision - the powers that be decide for all those in their control. Some wrong choices have been made, for sure. Man cannot live alongside his fellow man because of jealousy, need for power and greed, as you mention. Keep writing.

Love the third stanza, and the 8 lines that follow! Powerfully expressed "our dilemma isn't because we're not loved, it's because we don't know we are!"

Your poem is good. I agree that the biggest hangup for people with religion is the fact that evil is in the world. When in reality, evil exists because man sinned in the garden. In addition, if God made this a perfect world where everyone loved him and their was no problems...what would happen to free will? I think the fact that there is evil draws some people to God. I also agree that all people are created in God's image, even the wicked. You chose an interesting subject to write about. I'm so sorry I missed it in my competition! I thought I got them all. Thanks for sharing and keep writing. You have a lot of talent!

Beautiful write. Everyday people forget and take for granted the blessings that are constantly poured out amongst us. We look for the huge miracles and the big check in the mail box instead of taking the next breath and thinking of it as a blessing. People dont see the little things. He is the very air we breathe but yet people wake up everyday and dont thank him for the life of you that he spared. Death couldve taken you in your sleep but you just disregard it and think nothing of it. What an insult to the Lord our God. Many people need to read this poem so that they can learn how to be greatful.
