Just a fantasy

Funny how it started by you chasing me around the park, then me
falling clumsily on the tickling carpet of grass beneath some oak, or maybe willow?
I'm eternally grateful that the tree roots made a run in my pantyhose.
If I hadn't ripped my tights, you would have never run you finger over the holes.
I get a chill up my spine, and not from the crisp breeze or the sunless sky.
The sap from the trunk drips on my shoulder like honeydew, and you gently sip it off like sugar.

The angel and devil that is my conscious begins to riot like angry children,
Because its hard to decide if your going to be my friend or my sweetheart.
You see my chills, so you give me your favorite worn out, leather overcoat with the broken zipper, without hesitation.
When I first saw that coat at my best friend's house one year ago, to me it was just her brother's jacket.
I feel clueless, yet nowhere in my education does it say that I can't like my best friend's brother.

Forcing myself to ignore my morals, I situate myself in only the present moment.
You tell me you like me the way I am, without lipstick or makeup like everyone else.
I feel a great tension between us, not because we're both shy, but because we both want to take in the moment, not rush it like everything else in our lives.
I still can't believe this is happening, so I do the thing brings me to my common sense every time. I begin to run.
My clumsiness made my getaway very sloppy, because I stumbled as I tried to stand up. Of course, you are quciker and stronger, and softly but firmly grasp my wrist before I even gain my balance.

The second you pulled me close to you, just at the point where my forehead barely touched your chin, was the second I closed off my brain completely, listening only to the rush of my blood. Yet, it only lasted for a second, and I am once again trying to free myself from you, not admitting that I absolutely have wanted this for the six years I've known you.
Suddenly, I am awakened by the morning sun. I knew I was just dreaming.

This reads more like prose then poetry, but nevertheless, I think it's beautiful
You have displayed a lot of tenderness within these lines and that's what I was looking for with this contest!

thank you for entering, I wish you the best of luck!

I LOVE this. So freely written...or it felt that wy. I was taken back to a time when i was the girl with the crush on the seemingly inaccessessible, unattainable boy. Wow. Great job carrying the storyline throughout this piece. I couldn't take my eyes from the page. Wonderful. I hope you win something for this soon.
