my soul is a wanderer,
through fields of green,
and through wilderness and pasture,
by now i have been.
although ive seen so many a place,
there's only one place i long to return to,
though it's been so many years,
i hope to find it out of the blue.
it's a place from my childhood,
i remember it well,
and all kinds of creatures,
in her iridescent folds dwell.
it is a place that holds my fondest memory,
for once when i sat there in the boughs of a tree,
there came a young boy,
a kindred spirit to me.
he told me stories of lands afar,
and ever since that moment
i travelled with him,
wherever we were sent.
we have lived off the land,
until one snow clad day,
many years later,
we were caught in a fray.
we were scorned and abused,
and though i tried to pull him back,
he challenged them all,
courage he sure didn't lack.
i was the only one who turned up,
to send him to the grave,
and since we had no money,
i buried him under the pave.
but now that i have travelled,
so many miles,
wherever i go
i see his heart in any tiles.
yet everywhere i've gone since then,
has been a foul scene,
of the joy that we shared together,
none i have seen.
now i have seen reason,
i need to be home,
before i grow too old,
before i become foam.
but i lost my way some time ago,
but i never have died yet,
and i never will die till my final wish is carried out,
to see one last time the paradise where we met.
