To Lorek
"Every one loves pedantry though... "
Whenever clever aphorism comes,
(if even not intended to be such)
I copy it and raise up both my thumbs
because it may not really take so much
to trigger cannon verse with little crumbs!
With thanks from where such contributions go!

Author notes
Where do your best poems com from? This may be an idea.

Poems grow from many kinds of seeds: aphorisms, observations, cries from the heart. Even one line can be the beginning of a wonderful poem. In short, I agree.

That's where mine came from, metrically, even, result of lorek's comment that ended with what I quoted. It can be used any number of ways too, not just once, by substituting another common quality or attribute for "pedantry."

Thanks for making me get out my trusty tattered dictionary again. The meaning of aphorism still eludes me though. Teacher, please explain.

aphorism ?
It is a short, true, sometimes witty statement to reflect on Life or human nature. Emphasis on short.
"A penny saved is a penny earned." Pennies here are worth so little that few will even bend to pick one off the ground, but it stands for any small amount, and is true...
Look at it this way, the splashy advertising says "Save 50%!" Save 100% if you do not buy.
"Cream always rises" used to be obvious before homogenized milk.
It continues to mean the best workers tend to be promoted.
Any more questions?
