children in the garden

..today I feel
as though I want us
to be children together...

laughing and playing
and seeing all around us
with big eyes of wonder
and excitement......

you,
the little boy in
the garden with butterflies

and I,
the tiny girl,
peeping over the gate
wanting so much to join
you in play...

I have a day like this almost every day, I don't know many who would not yearn for that childhood innocence again. To be able to run and play and you're biggest worry was whether it was going to rain or not. Beautifully done, it makes me yearn once again for those days...

...Is it raining today?...lol..I love rainy days...I'm a puddle jumper!...thanks for the fun comment, Garrett. Peace, Rhonda
  • For me this seems to pick up again from the source of your magical 'childhood' memories which I've tasted before.

It's really wonderful and so moving Rhonda. I also suspect very meaningful and beneficial for yourself as much as for us reading them.

    Bless you

    Sol

    today I feel
    as though I want us
    to be children together

Just these lines in themselves...oh! They're beautiful.
Do I ever have a day like this? Yes, absolutely. Every day of my life.

I so want us all to be children together. How much more fun and loving life would be. And so beautiful when you find someone who you can feel like this with.

Come over and play in my garden with me anytime!

  • Actualy I have and it was recently. When ever I get around my new friend that is what we feel. We are both adults yet it feels so good to act like little kids with each other. It seems to bring out another side of us when we connect. So anyway beautiful write!

I love the image created here, and the subtext behind it. The last two stanzas are my favorite. Is there any specific sort of laughing or playing that they're doing? I'm just wondering, because if you had something in mind, maybe you could put it there... but this is fun. It made me smile.

My apologies for so late a reply, redteacup....I had images of games I played as a child, but I wanted the reader to be able to put their own games into the piece...that is partly why I used the word garden rather than yard, it expands the context, or so I thought. Great comment, thanks! Peace, Rhonda

I look at my kids with a similar wonderment. I wish weren't so busy that I couldn't spend a day just playing in the garden.

    Excellent

All of us have the longing to go back to the childhood state of bliss, especially when the world around is full of falsity.

  • and I,
    the tiny girl,
    peeping over the gate
    wanting so much to join
