This is a love story from days long past, Precious Song lived with her village along the bank of a beautiful river. She was just one week from her birthday, where she shakes off the last of her girlhood, she would be a woman soon. Already her groom had been picked out for her, he was tall , handsome and a strong warrior. Already she knew that she loved him and he loved her, so this day, they snuck away up the bank, to their favorite hiding place. They often came hear to kiss and spend time with each other but they were both tired of waiting, today she would give herself to her husband to be, for what did it matter, they would be wed on her birthday in one weeks time.
They both were nervous, for she has never gone this far before and he had never taken a virgin, but has their kisses grew heated and their clothing was shed. It felt very natural, like this was meant to be. She was wet and ready for her husband to be when he entered her, so she felt little of the pain from breeching her maiden head. Soon their bodies were moving as one, dancing to the age old tempo of making love. Precious could feel an wonderful sensation like no other building in her womb and then it seemed like stars burst, showering down on her from heaven above. Her husband to be was soon to follow, spilling his seed into her. As they both came back down to earth, they heard screams and smelled smoke, they both knew that something was very wrong.
Her husband to be told her to run and meet the other women and children in the hills, in the planned hiding place. And he ran off into battle with his fellow warriors. Precious was running up the hill and when something told her to turn or she swears that she heard him call her name. As she turned she seen her love be chopped down by none other then Madam Mai. She was a mean bitch, she would sell her own mother if she could turn a profit. She had been bullying Precious’ tribe for time, trying to get them sell their land and settle else where. I guess money did not work for her, so now she was using force. At that point something came over Precious, she knew that she could do nothing now, with no weapons, so she vowed to the Sun Father, Moon Women and Earth Mother that she would one day have her revenge.
Precious was the only survivor of her tribe, she was lost and stuck with no place to go, no one to turn too. She just started walking and she walked until her feet could carry her no more. That is exactly how Coco Cherry found her. Now Coco was a tough chic, raised mostly by her brothers and herself, she learned the way of life the hard way. She could out ride, shot and gamble any man. She made her living at the table, it was not a get rich quick but it fed her and her horse Candy. Coco knew that if she left her there she would surely die, so She would just have to skip her date tonight.
Coco nursed Precious through her fever and when she opened her eyes finally, she learned her story. You see Coco hated Madam Mai just as much, she was the one that killed her Ma and Pa all the those years ago. Coco had been biding her time and waiting for the moment of her own revenge. Fate at put Precious in Coco’s path. The both set out together and made plans, first they both had to get some dresses.
Coco and Precious both got jobs at Madam Mai’s saloon, Precious was a barmaid and Coco was a show girl. Sometimes Precious and Coco would sing together, the crowd loved it and Madam Mai loved all the business and money the girls were making her. She grew lax in her guard around them and the girls soon learned all her comings and goings. They had evidence now that could put her behind bars for many years but they wanted her to pay for all the deaths. So they called in a Federal Marshall in and let him in all they knew, he had been trying to catch Madam Mai for years but she always seemed to escape in the nick of time.
So one day when Madam Mai was talking about her plan to rob a train that was carrying federal gold, the girls told the Marshall and told him that if he did not let them ride, they would tell Madam Mai that the feds were on to her. So he let the girls ride with him and he even got Precious a powerful beautiful mare, solid black, which was very fitting for her revenge was black as night. She knew that she would die today and go home to her love but she also knew that in the process she would take down Madam Mai, the only person she has ever hated.
So they ride in and wait a safe distance from where Madam and her gang are hiding out. Waiting for the train seemed like hours but it was only really a matter of minutes. Madam and her gang made their move. They stopped the train a few yards from where Precious, Coco and the Marshall were hiding, everything was going perfect. So Just when the gang let there guard down, that is when the Marshall signaled for them to make their move. The whole gang was surrounded but Madam was not going to give up easy, she was going to fight her way out shooting and that is when something, a spirit came over Precious, she let out a battle cry that was blood chilling. She turned to her right and she seen the warriors from her tribe riding with her, she could fill their power surging through her. Then she saw him, her love with his head thrown back, screeching his battle cry and at that moment she jumped from her horse right into Madam Mai, stabbing her with her knife dead center to the heart.
She did not feel the bullet when it pierced her own heart, she just felt a calm wash over her. She reached her hand out before she slumped over, her love took her hand and together they walked home. Coco was happy that Madam was dead but mad that she did not do herself. She was also sad that she had lost her friend, the only friend that she ever had. She valued from that day on that fight for those that were not strong enough to do it their selves and if she ever had a little girl she would name it after her best friend.

If your SF means what I think it does then you are bashing this poets effort. I happen to love the imagery of the concept. The story is different, clever and unique...Who's to say this did not happen in the wild wild west......(to the writer please keep you imagery always in your works its a lager part of being a wonderful story teller)...

I am bashing her efforts by saying it reads like sciece fiction??? That was my comment because it does.. out of curiosity what in this world did you think SF stood for???????????????? Those names were out of time and place you added a note to me about being a half breed you could say that or a one fourth breed yes I am that so what?? comments are not meant to be taken personally.. this was a western contest you stated but it seems to be more.. political

Great story. It kept me riveted to the end. I enjoyed it.

-
very well written. Romance and revenge. Great story telling. Most people don't write story in a three phase structure. You did it very well. Good luck.

A wonderful story about a rough life. Precious got revenge for her people in the end, at the cost of her own life...but it was worth it. Sometimes nothing will be resolved without the spilling of the blood, your story clearly illustrates this.
The only stricken one in your story is Coco, she must now live the rest of her life with only her memories. She not only lost her best friend, she lost her mortal enemy. One can be as important as the other.
By the way, I loved the pic.
Thanks so much for entering our contest.
