God is everywhere.
So why do we need to go to church to pray?
God is among us.
But why is he hiding?
People have faith in God?
But how can they believe?
How can you put such complete faith in something you can't see.
Something you can't touch?
Something you can't even know exists?
I envy those with that much faith.
I have been betrayed before.
Trust is always conditional.
But if those closest to me can rip my heart out
How can I ever trust in something
That might not even be there?
So why do we need to go to church to pray?
God is among us.
But why is he hiding?
People have faith in God?
But how can they believe?
How can you put such complete faith in something you can't see.
Something you can't touch?
Something you can't even know exists?
I envy those with that much faith.
I have been betrayed before.
Trust is always conditional.
But if those closest to me can rip my heart out
How can I ever trust in something
That might not even be there?
Author notes
I wrote this for a contest obviously being hosted by someone with faith. The contest was to write on your real feelings about God, so here they are. I don't expect to win anything, but I just wrote what I felt, and I did this for myself, more than the actual contest.

You ask some very good questions here. My thoughts are that you might want to consider asking God directly to reveal Himself to you...to show Himself to be real. I know that I have been hurt many times, too, by people of "faith". Thankfully, while we mere humans are very imperfect...He is not. Sometimes it is hard to separate God from the people who claim to serve and love Him. *sigh*

Hmmm... asking God to reval himself to me. Now, I am not so recently studied on my bible, so correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't it say at some point something along the lines of "I refuse to prove that I exist, for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
If God does actually exist, it doesn't seem like he would exactly be able to reveal himself to me. I guess some people just have faith, while others don't. And if God wanted to change that, he would find a way, but if I were to "ask God directly" I don't think I would find the answers I am looking for.
Thanks for the comment and applause.

Hi, Juliet. Sorry to take so long to respond. I have been very sick and am still dragging and foggy brained. I know that Jesus did challenge the religious leaders of the day because He was right there in front of them fulfilling the prophecies of Scripture (which was sign enough) and, yet, there they were asking for yet another sign. Maybe that is what you are thinking of?
There are some verses that are very comforting to me. I hope they might encourage you.
Jer 29:12 You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
Jer 29:13 You shall seek me, and find me, when you shall search for me with all your heart.
Psa 86:5 For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you.
I like the "all" in that verse. I know that I have sought Him and that He has revealed Himself to me. I have gone to Him with all my concerns...sometimes I have even been angry with Him, yet He heard it all and loved me back.
If you want to chat more about this, feel free to message me anytime.
These are just a couple of verses. There are many more.

I wasn't looking for a strictly "Christian" perspective, and I'm glad you shared this. Thanks and good luck in my contest!
