When chilled clouds weep frozen tears
and drop them into silence
or floatingly exhale them
upon a rippled whiteness,
the moon smoothes her soundless beams
across a reflecting sea
while stars dip into its liquidity
and night fills her spaces with deep breaths.
She blows softly on the wakeful earth
that calls nocturnal creatures out
with gleaming eyes and furtive feet,
or an owl's hoot and fox's bark.
Earth's rhythms now are out of true
Both day and night are ours to rue.
Author notes
This is a new kind of sonnet for me, so I hope I've got it right.

An interesting way to describe nightfall. It's well done and I enjoyed reading the poem. Happy trails

Hi mum. A very good write. Lovely depth of feeling. Good imagery, flow and tone. Vivid descriptives. Good word choice, alliteration and nice alliteration. Nice personification of emotions of clouds, stars and moon. Well penned and much enjoyed.
