A frozen wonder
locked upon frigid vines
and chill had captured
a moment, sweetness and ripe
in a sudden grip.
There for naught
summer splendor, gifts
of rain, sun and fertile soil;
fond tomorrows held in anxious
anticipation.
Icy cold occurrence
fell upon like snap of night
light might fall slowly, not like this;
come still in an instant.
Found
after so many
casual touches and glances
'neath warming breath, tenderness
gentle coaxing, came to giving flows
a more precious nectar, more urgent;
lasting delight
poured upon knowing palates
and colder side of day, reborn
now become ice wine.

The incorporation of winter and wine was a splendid change. I felt like a window was opened as the words chilled my bones. Thank you for this entry.

Excellent choice of wine, the best actually!
The way you describe it, from the grapes till it is finally poured, is wonderful.
Soft, sweet and exquisite as the ice wine itself

I agree with Karen, your poetry is beautifully soft on my senses.
Poetic balm.

Oh this is just superb, the word choice and the flow just made it one of those poems that is easily digested... beautiful, goodluck in this contest
