A few of life's little things
A card with a story
Of love never to fade
Looking at the card again
Breathless...
Romantic moments on the way~
Candles,cards and flowers
A way to say you care
Minutes seem like hours
Looking at the card once more
Reading it again and again~
Candles,cards and promises
It's all what you want it to be
Feelings of love for you
Uniting together, not as one but two~
To have, to hold, see life through
This is my Valentine wish for you
Along with a card,and a candle
And also a promise true~

Dear Susan,
As you know Joan and Daughter Sharon are sightseeing around Canterbury with Hugh. Heathcote and Hinemoa have taken off for a holiday down at Milford Sound so I am commenting on behalf of angelica Hinemoa and will post their votes for them in due cause.
Very beautiful sentiments Susan that show the true meaning of Valentines day. We all love this time of the year, it's very romantic. Good luck in the contest.

This is sweet and also very sincerely said. The symbols exist to speak beyond words, and you extend them with lovely descriptions.
"To have, to hold, see life through
This is my Valentine wish for you"
Simply beautiful. Best of luck!

My favorite is the final verse, especially the final two lines, because the card and candle celebrate and reignite in a small way, the promise true.

Someone once said, "It's the little things in life that count".
Your poem illustrates this so well.
I love you,

So Loving!
I loved the repetition at the beginning of each stanza, changing only one word. "Uniting together not as one, but two!" We all must maintain ourself in any relationship. You are so wise! Best wishes and as always loving kisses.

Dear Molly,
Well, I sent you an e-card! Have you opened and read it?
I put a message on it to say:
"Though I can't be your Valentine,
this card is just to say
that you're a favourite of mine
and HAVE A HAPPY DAY!"
Today, as I was doing the supermarket shopping, the flower lady by the exit door had a bouquet of the most beautiful white lilies. She said it was her last one and there would be no more next week so I bought it for Edna.
You should've seen her face!! I think, for a moment, it took her mind off her pain. You know I'd do the same for you if I could.
Now I hadn't thought of buying her a candle. I wonder if I gave her a torch if that'd do? Or, maybe a spare lightbulb?
Applause for your lovely poem and lotsa love and hugs, XXX Hugh (R.) DA.

That was sure a sweet and thoughtful thing to do, Hugh... but the light bulb would have been ideal

Susan,
Candles, Cards and Flowers is a lovely reflection of Valentine's Day sentiments and what we have brought into tradition over the years. How many hopes we pin to that day for lovers in the midst of winter!
