Lost

Hollow feelings inside
My soul screaming for something
I don't know what
Just something to fill this void
It's surprising that no one sees
The turmoil in my mind or
Hears my heart wrenching scream
Maybe it's because of my mask
Painted with a perpetual smile
My sickeningly placid demeanor
Hiding my true feelings
It is all a fake guise
I pass of any glint of sadness
With some fake excuse
I don't want you to see the
Real me underneath
It is an ugly mess of emotions
Emptiness and pain
Fear and anguish
Incompleteness and longing
Lost in a sea of alabaster masks
Moving through the motions
And hiding my inward pain
Appearing to be dead on the surface
But screaming underneath this painted facade
Dying for a taste of the Truth
Aching for the Love of God
And feeling nothing, showing nothing
So as not to be judged by a heartless world
I. Am. Lost.

    It has been a while since we've seen each other on AP, but I'm glad that my visits have been more frequent. The detail within this piece was so picturesque that it was worth more than a thousand words! I am sure that many can relate to this piece, especially adolescents, though they would never have thought to word their feelings with such complexity and grace/flow! The true emotions and sensations are allowing themselves to be felt just through how you vocalize your eelings. This piece is a personal favorite of mine, and I hope to see more from you in the future! Keep up the great work.

    omg... this seems odly familiar... hmmm... who else has written about painted masks???... i just dont know... but seriously how did u take an idea that was completley mine and turn it into a poem that was so much better than mine????... that is unfair!!!!
