to turn you
black and blue.
But red seeped out
and now you're
an eggplant hue.
I know the feeling
of something
leaking through.
Drenched, wearing
just a hoody, I
ran madly in
Britain's streets,
sweating out
the worst accent.
I was Emily Dickinson
having a Sylvia Plath
reaction.
As night came,
I chose not to cry,
so I wouldn't show
a bias towards safety.
Back in Massachusetts,
the woods felt more secure,
though drooped daisies
never gave a sealing comfort
when they were overshadowed
by sunflowers.
Then again, it seemed
to always rain there too.
I'm brought to the present
by falling face first
into a puddle I made.
Instead of screaming,
I'm singing,
wanting monopoly
over my own pain.
No, I need to know
I can write it away.
But it takes up
too much time to change;
My patience
makes for delay,
and everything is
now another day.

I like this entry very much - you have done what I hoped for, and made a poem that makes sense on its own, as well as answering the questions. This is unique and an intimate window into the workings of a poetic mind. Thank you.

This is probably one of your best writes in awhile. Seriously. It's so unique. I love how you took this contest with 20 questions and turned it into this wonderful poem that doesn't just answer the questions but also let's us see how our mind works. I love the beginning especially-
"I threw rocks
to turn you
black and blue.
But red seeped out
and now you're
an eggplant hue."
I may be biased but after reading some of the other entries- I love how yours shows your personality more in the execution than in just the answers.
