A journy down a long road into night
Walks a stanger without his sight
The darkness closes around him
Silently moving at its own whim
Seemingly without purpose or correlation
Their motions echo forth a relation
Is there a connection between these entities?
The dark and the stranger from out of the cities
Along this journey, as dark as the day is long
The stranger, while blind, hears a haunting song
The very melody draws a tear from, his name is Wayne,
But just then the voice carries, and the dark turns to rain
For such is the power contained inside this voice
That it rises above the classificaiton of noise
Moving forward ever so slightly, he can see
The loving song's owner it turns out to be
Reaching forward he seems to find a hold,
But in his grip, it turns to strands of cold
Holding the ice in his hand, freezing his skin
He glimpses her again, and feels he can win
This time a meadow lies between the stranger and his bride
Moving through the wet grass, he strives to be at her side
From her voice echoes the call of a winter storm
Wind blasts through the night, stealing all that is warm
Hail scours his face and pelt his mighty hands
He finds a grip on her again, but it is as sand
Gone again is the great lover, out of the snows
This man follows and his love of her song grows
He whispers through this endless night echoes off a star
"I love you, my lady, where is it that you are?"
Gently behind him the grass bends slightly
The air is moved ever so quietly
A slight rush of wind come into this place
Kissing his check with the softness of lace
The wind across this clearing seems to cast a pall
Quieting everything "All you had to do was call"
Her voice flows like honey across his mind
"Where are you lady? You I cannot find"
Her sweet joyous voice enters his ear
Like a lover's so soft yet so near
"I am right behind you" her breath stirs his hair
He turns quickly to see her and she is fair
"I hear you are to each man what he most desires"
He stands tall, but his voice trembles with fear
"You see me as I am, this how you always appear.
This is me as I truly am, you see me no other way"
He moved to her and embraced her as he asked "Can I stay?"
Her love reflected in her beautiful brown eyes
"Of course you can" then gently she sighs
Together they walked from the clearing
Through the meadow, to where he stood hearing
On the road for the first time her soothing voice
As he walked though the dark, it seemed to rejoice
For two gentle lovers were passing through
Into the sunrise, but the darkness knew
That their souls grew up, twisting together
While the sun knew, they would be together forever.
