~The River Is~-December 2007

You are perched upon a grey rock,
Watching the river flow on by.
You are ready to give up,
On what you have dreamed is life.
You see the waves,
Undulate past your toes.
The sun caresses your cheek,
And you forget your fears,
Your woes.
The waves of the future
Rolling in,
The waves of the past,
Has already brushed your skin.
High upon this rock,
You console yourself,
You talk…
About all the things you have seen,
All the places you have been,
All dreams you did dream.
You ask yourself
If the river is your sign,
To roll on past the rocky days,
The world,
The time…
And just succeed within the now.
And watch as the days roll in,
Consider how…
How will you allow your world to be…
Will you allow it to run as this river does?
Run so very freely?
Or will you try to halt its divine journey,
And damn it to a flooded hell?
Will you drink the water traveling through this spring,
Or devour only from your well?
Open up your mind,
Try the flavor of wind kissed waters…
And allow yourself to linger within this time…
This time of pure beauty,
Pure success,
Of a river careening over the shattered sorrows of yesterday,
And moving forward to the best:
Best days of your life.
No longer ponder the river:
Wonder about its smile and strife….
Just consider its strength
Under the sunlight…
Consider the sun blazing,
Blinding the rivers sight,
Consider the rocks pounding the inside of the river,
Beating its truth to life,
Yet it furthers its way through the struggle
And enters its future through the day and night.
Yes so sit upon the rock,
Stern and grey,
And watch your future come closer,
And your past just wash away.
For the river is your tomorrow,
And this moment is your today.
