Spirit Of A Dream

Rainfall on the rooftops gently lull my mind to sleep.
Thunder in the distance makes the atmosphere complete.
I dream a dream so pleasant of good friends and happy times.
Feeling such joy in my heart as I witness all the signs.
There are signs of happiness like flowers and of smiles
We play such games it seems as if we've run a thousand miles.

I see the way they look at me and I know this is right.
Together in the sunshine holding off the night.
But I see that its coming for the sky is getting gray.
I know the time is coming for my friends to go away.

I hear their mothers calling and the street lights have come on,
But we are not done playing and we're not done having fun.
We ignore all of the yelling from the houses down the street,
and we know that they'll come hunting us because its time to eat.

But we will make them come for us for we don't want to go.
Supper time's upon us this we surely know.
But until they come and drag us home, we'll stay playing games.
With these happy soul mates who will gladly share the blame.

Now my eyes are opened and my spirit is renewed.
I am an adult again but bright with attitude.
the dreams of my sweet childhood have lifted up my sould.
this must be what God had in mind when he blessed us with dreams to hold.
