The shades of red, ubiquitous
to that day.
And the plentitude of roses,
sweets and hearts
is enough to fill the gym
twice full.
So it is full,
of cupid's girls.
Dressed in pink sweaters
clinging to oversized teddy bears,
Their sock hop partners,
Cologned and slick,
with a dozen red wishes
and velvet boxed chocolates.
They jitter bug the day away
While I in class,
sit at my desk
Coveting the singing grams
Not that I'd like a serenade,
but perhaps a hand made card
on my locker?
The campus is permeated
with the sweet scent
of heart shaped sugar cookies.
The overall reek of
the days overplayed theme
leaves me queasy.
Standing off in my corner
with the rest of
the lonely hearts club.
