2nd, 4th, 14th, 2001

I want to remember this certain time
when I was in a class of twenty
and only that one boy took time to see me
although it wasn't hard to miss me

Chestnut hair, and very chubby
I was called many names
by many of the kids
all but him

He was a star wars nerd
I was a tough and shy child
We spent only a couple weeks
sharing ideas, and stories

I showed him how to do karate
he showed me his passion for science fiction
And then came February 12th
the day he asked me to be his Valentine

I walked away saying "I don't know.."
but my "friends" talked me into saying yes.
Two days later he approaches me on recess
saying "I left you something on the locker"

Thanking him and we played for the rest of recess
I walked back in the building with the 50 other students
to find this heart shaped balloon with an alien on it saying "I Love You"
On my locker door, floating over all the other lockers

Yes it was cute and very kind
Now that I look back on it
But then, I remember stuffing into the bottom of my locker
putting a sweater over it

"So how do you like it??"
He said in my ear
Embarrassed and blushing
I told him I loved it

That was the best valentines day ever!
and I remember it so clearly
I was only ten and he was also ten
An amazing February, I'll never forget!!
