Delicious Murder

Ah, if I could swim in the maroon tide
Left by my slaughtered nourishment,
Drown out their suddenly sentient screams,
Oh that would be sweet.

As things are, however, I savor
The short, sweet resistance against silverware,
The buttery ease of the rest of the way,
And I toast primates and the Galapagos with red wine.

And the soft leather that I wrap around my feet,
And the polished tusks, the easy contempt,
The temptations of being superior,
And hunger for things that don't fill me:

These are the demons that with angel voices
Grant me license to make infernal choices.

Author notes

I haven't a single clue... I'm an omnivore, for crying out loud!  Anyway, enjoy.

Thanks!

    I loved the lines:
The buttery ease of the rest of the way,
And I toast primates and the Galapagos with red wine.

To me this poem speaks of gluttony...I think that came across because I am not a supporter of consumerism and materialism and so when I read the aformentioned lines, I thought about how humans think we are center of the universe when really we are part of this ecosystem that encompasses lots of flora and fauna. The last lines of the poem in particular speaks to me of consumerism: "And hunger for things that don't fill me:

These are the demons that with angel voices
Grant me license to make infernal choices."

I hope I make sense here. Also, I am curious...how come you don't reply to the comments I make? I would appreciate some sort of acknowledgement if you're not too busy...though I know life outside of AP is definately important.

    Please write back,
    Farzin

    Fantastic

Whew! Very disturbing....are you sure you're not a rabid Vegan? This was gory but so beautiful in parts...like "The short, sweet resistance against silverware, The buttery ease of the rest of the way". I mean, really...this is too awesome. Don't think it'll be one I choose to read often....don't want nightmares, but it is (as usual) fantastic. Ask not for whom the Muse toils....evidently, she toils for thee.
