About Marriage

Long-lasting,
two together become one,
Loving, caring,
She needs love, he needs love,
Children will be born,
He goes to work,
She could work
Or she stays at home
Looks after the kids,
Cooks for them and
Wait for the husband's return.

Watch some romantic movies
Hugging each other by the couch,
Talking about work, day and plans,
Sometimes arguing but there's a limit,
A little bit of playful teasing,
Some sighing, some nagging,
Some frowning, some arm-folding
But all that will end with a smile
And a beautiful kiss.

Before That...

Saying your vows,
Holding each other's hands,
Crying with joy,
Happiness fill up the whole church,
Parents tearing, friends smiling,
Both of you are ready for a long journey,
Hoping it won't be cut short,
After all you both have made it this far,
Destiny will bring you way beyond your dreams,
Love will conquer all things big and small,
Both of you stay with one another
Through thick and thin.

THEN....

Going to each other's work events,
Talking and making friends with new people,
Then on Valentine's Day
He may forget but you remember,
Try making it a day to cherish
The days when you were just a young couple
Then praise one another for the goodness
Both of your eyes have seen.

If you have children,
Discussing their names,
Their school, their dreams
And their future
Sometimes could turn
Into a terrifying fight
But would slow down
If a kind word is used,
Then both of you settle down
And do it in an easier, gentler
And healthy way.

There's a lot more about marriage,
I can't think about everything
But I'll try to guess or imagine
What marriage is all about,
After all it is a beautiful time,
A new beginning for a loving couple.

I like how this poem is a view of marriage from the outside in. I have rarely seen that.

Also, I really like how this tells a story. It starts with a picture of marriage and then the description of the wedding day, ending with the journey that a marriage may take.

    Thank you for entering!
