Promise me that when I'm gone
You'll remember the good times we had.
And when I'm gone
Make sure to acknowledge me
So my legacy will remain.
Understand, that when I'm gone
I'm at a better place.
And understand, that you can live
Though your heart has burned to ashes.
Think of me when you fall apart
And remember what I want for you.
Don't forget, when you harm yourself
I see all that you do.
I see the scars and I see the shame
And long to help you know
That I'll still be with you, if only in your dreams.
I'll still be watching over you
And making sure you're safe.
Author notes
I read the rules.
Well, this is kind of personal and to myself.

Very sentimental; sweet. I understand what you speak of, but I don't know from whose point of view I'm reading from. Understandable being a personal poem, and I don't down you for that. I don't think this had to be such a short and to the point poem. I feel like you could go back and add a lot to this poem to give it depth and life to your work. Other than that, great job and keep up the work
